3E Injury Prevention Program©

Reacting at the first signs of injury...

The 3E Injury Prevention program is our employer based comprehensive program that resolves potential injuries or contributing working conditions using multiple avenues. These include:

Early Intervention:

Early intervention strategies focus on reacting to potential soft tissue injury concerns before they develop into recordable injury. The key to early intervention is early reporting. If an employee brings attention to difficulties with job duties, concerning work tasks, unsafe working conditions, or reoccurring aches and pains, before an injury occurs, it enables us to respond with aggressive proactive measures to resolve the underlying stressors. Our response to each situation is comprehensive and specific to the individual factors that present.

Response components may include:
Baseline first aid assessment and documentation of the report
Screening for need for immediate medical referral
Counseling in proper use of OSHA approved first aid measures
     Symptom monitoring with scheduled re-assessments

All assessments are voluntary and the details of the early intervention program are reviewed prior to completing a signed consent form and beginning the assessment.

Ergonomic Intervention:

If the complaint involves underlying work factors such as difficulties with job duties, concerning work tasks, or unsafe working conditions, an ergonomic intervention protocol is initiated. This protocol begins with a baseline observation of the employee while he/she is working. The observation focuses on screening for underlying risk factors or work methods that may have contributed to the employee's complaint. Each observation typically requires less than 30 minutes to perform and a summary report is provided upon completion.

If the baseline ergonomic screening performed during the ergonomic observation identified concerns that can not be resolved through work method training alone, data is gathered to perform a quantitative job hazard assessment. Each of our providers is trained to perform appropriate job task measurements, gather videotape of the working processes, and will submit the data for further review. Job hazard evaluation is performed by a Certified Ergonomic Evaluation Specialist (CEES) and a detailed report is provided to offer insight into ergonomic concerns. The results include short and long term recommendations to reduce musculoskeletal injury potential.

Employee Education:

Following first aid assessment and during each employee interaction, education is provided involving risk awareness, proper use of basic first aid measures, and the importance of compliance to safety and health procedures discussed during the initial contact. Education continues at the time of the ergonomic observation. Detail is placed on observing the employee's specific work methods to determine whether they can be improved. Work method training is provided to minimize physical stress, maximize efficiency, and aid in resolving the reported complaint. Work method training may often involve improvements in manual lifting techniques, reducing unnecessary movements, minimizing awkward or stressful postures, or breaking up static or repetitive movements. A summary of the recommendations is provided to enable similar training for other employees who perform similar work duties.

Measurable Returns:

Our comprehensive injury prevention approach has shown to provide significant work injury cost savings for each of our employers. In addition, you will see other positive benefits including less time spent on managing work injury claims, less time spent training replacement workers, improved production efficiency by keeping experienced workers on the job, and a work environment that brings safety to the forefront.

Stay abreast of your employee's status:

A detailed report of each interaction is provided to the employer and peer reviewed to ensure that your provider, the employer, and IMS maintain real time communication and are doing all possible to prevent potential injury. Efforts are taken to ensure all reports meet federal privacy regulations. Timely reports are provided to ensure that the employer has opportunity to screen the case for OSHA record keeping requirements.
